Writer's Block: If I had a hammer

As a child, did you feel like you were you expected to pursue a certain type of career? How did this make you feel? Did you wind up choosing a different profession or path?

My dad always told me I would be a medical doctor.  Meanwhile, he owned a business and he wanted me to run when he retired.  Then there was a period in my life he told me I should be a certified public accountant.  I felt secured about my future plans made by my dad.  It gave me something to think about.   Unfortunately, the day came when my dad and mom got divorced, so the business was out of the equation.  I was on my own to choose a career and I did.
